CM Venture Capital was started by two co-founders who have over 30 years of combined work experience in the US, including R&D, venture capital, entrepreneurship and business development. Min has diverse experience in technology development, business development and venture capital. Min spent 17 years in the US before founding CM Venture Capital.
Prior to CM Venture Capital, Min was with Silicon Valley Bank Capital, where she was responsible for identifying and evaluating venture capital and private equity fund investments, with a focus on the China market. Prior to SVB Capital, Min was a principal at Unilever Technology Ventures (UTV) where she led investments in companies in the fields of cleantech, semiconductor, medical device, drug development and health and wellness, in companies such as Impinj (NASDAQ: PI), Halosource (AIM: HALO.LN), Textronics (sold to Adidas). Prior to UTV, Min worked as a senior scientist in the Materials Science division and a business development associate at the Technology Commercialization division at Rockwell Scientific, a high-tech enterprise.
Min earned a doctorate in materials science and engineering (with distinction) from University of Southern California, an MBA (with distinction) from Anderson Business School of the University of California at Los Angeles, and a bachelor’s degree in materials science from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Dr. Patrick Berbon
Patrick has an extensive background in metallurgy, aerospace, power and cleantech industries.
Before co-founding CM Venture Capital, Patrick was a Senior Consultant at Performance Improvement, a risk analysis and management company specialized in power industries. Patrick is an experienced entrepreneur in the advanced materials space. His prior start-up focuses on advanced nanograin aluminum alloys and its applications, the company was successfully listed on the Toronto Venture Exchange. Before his entrepreneurial ventures, Patrick was a Senior Scientist in Materials Science Division at Rockwell Scientific Inc. Patrick specializes in advanced materials and clean technologies, including renewable electricity generation, biofuels for transportation, green building, clean water, clean air, carbon dioxide emissions reduction, recyclable materials, sustainable foresting and agriculture, and energy efficiency.
Patrick obtained Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, M.S. from Tsinghua University (China) and M.S./B.S. from Ecole Centrale de Lyon (France), all in Materials Sciences. Patrick is a member of the Board of Directors of CTT, Zennithnano, Enwise, Octadem.
Michelle Hua Michelle has extensive experience in private equity investment and strategy consulting.
Prior to joining CM Venture Capital, Ms. Hua served as Director with Co-bridge Capital, where she led investments in companies in the fields of clean-tech, advanced material and IT service. Before that, Ms. Hua was a strategy consultant with Monitor Group and PRTM, where she advised clients on M&A, market entry, and operations strategy. Earlier in her career, Ms. Hua worked in Dell Computer and Nortel where she was involved in product development, strategic planning and operations management.
Michelle earned a MBA from University of Michigan Business School, a Master degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Maryland, dual Bachelor degree in Material Science and Automation from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Michelle is on the board of iRock.
Chris is mainly responsible for investigating investment opportunities in the fields of new energy, new materials, intelligent manufacturing and circular economy.
Before joining CM, Chris had internships or full-time work experience in institutions such as Bridge Capital, Boston Consulting Group, and Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Chris obtained a master's degree in financial mathematics from the City University of Hong Kong and a bachelor's degree in optoelectronic information science and engineering from Harbin Engineering University.
Mason focuses on the investment opportunities in the fields of chemical, environment, new materials, and circular economy.
Prior to joining CM, Mason has part-time or full-time academic research experience in the University of Nottingham, Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Cornell University, and concentrate on waste gas treatment and catalyst development. Mason obtained his master degree in Environmental Processes from Cornell University and a bachelor degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Nottingham.

Daisy is mainly responsible for cutting-edge technology analysis and industry chain research.
Prior to joining CM family, Daisy had internship experience at Trina Solar, Selen Science&Technology and Huaxin Futures.
Daisy holds a double master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Systems from University of Edinburgh and Business and Operations Management from Warwick Business School.
Emily has many years of audit experience in the Big Four and domestic large accounting firms and investment banking experience in securities companies. Emily has rich experience in financial internal control, project review, financial due diligence and post-investment financial management.
Before joining CM Venture Capital, Emily worked as an audit manager in RSM China. Prior to this, Emily has more than six years of experience in auditing at Ernst and Young, one of the Big Four accounting firms, and also has experience of investment bank in DaTong Securities.
Emily obtained a master's degree from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and holds qualification certificates for certified public accountants.
Fiona is mainly responsible for internal financial management, operation, recruitment channels development, establishment and maintenance of personnel files, and handling social insurance for employees. Prior to joining CM Venture Capital, she worked as a tax accountant for Sinen Food and was involved in the project management of the Group's returning service.
Jean-Claude has an extensive experience in the Specialty Chemical industry in managerial, consulting and investment roles across the globe.
After starting as a chemist with I.C.I. in England, Jean-Claude spent seven years in the US and Germany with BASF where, among other roles, he led their venture capital division. From 2006 to 2015, Jean-Claude spent nine years in China in various managerial and consulting roles in the chemical sector. In 2015, Jean-Claude returned to the UK to lead Scott Bader, a $300m turnover global specialty chemicals company. He left the Scott Bader CEO role in September 2019.
Jean-Claude has a MSc in polymer science, an MBA and a PhD in sustainable systems.
Ryosuke Kuwada is a 30-year veteran in Global electronic materials businesses. Ryosuke holds a BS from Keio University (Electronics Materials Design) & MBA from Keio University Business School.
Ryosuke was also the first employee in DuPont electronic materials appointed as Global Business Manager outside of the USA. After 17 years’ service at Du Pont, he joined E Ink Corporation in Cambridge, MA (MIT spin out). As Global Sales & Marketing VP, he lead technology commercialization of the Amazon “Kindle Launch” in 2007 as well as a successful Exit (~$400M Merger by a Taiwanese LCD company). At Toppan Printing Corporation (Japanese $15B company), he was appointed as Head (GM) of Corporate Planning Division and was responsible for whole company portfolio management. After establishing his own consulting firm, he plays key role in the industry such as Board of Director at several large corporations like Japan Display Inc.
Andrew has extensive experience in the Specialty Materials, Water, Energy, and IIOT industries in business development, strategy, startups, and corporate venture capital across the globe.
After spending 16 year in business development and product marketing for a number of large water and materials companies in the United States including General Electric, Andrew lead a Global Innovation Platform team focused on Alternative Energy for SABIC. He was the Vice President of SABIC Ventures from 2012 to 2014, the CEO of a SABIC JV in Nanomaterials, and has spent the last 4 years as the Vice President of an Industrial IOT startup in Austin Texas.
Andrew has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of California, Davis in Mechanical Engineering, Creative Design.
